The History

KALSEP Ltd was formed by BP in 1988 to commercialise the separation and filtration products developed at the extensive R & D facility at Sunbury-on-Thames.

In 1991, the management purchased the business from BP with the assistance of venture capital finance. The business was further developed both in the UK and overseas and in 1995, the venture capital shares were acquired by Smith & Loveless Inc, a leading American wastewater company.

Kalsep Ltd won a series of government grants to develop its own low fouling membrane, Kalmem™, and has licensed this technology in Europe and USA. Further technical advances have been made and patents applied for. Fibrotex™ is now fully patented worldwide.

In 2003, Kalsep was acquired by Hydranautics, a leading supplier of membrane products worldwide.

In 2005, Smith and Loveless bought the assets of Kalsep Ltd and Kalsep UK Ltd was formed. With a move to new premises at the end of 2005, Kalsep UK Ltd continues its long tradition, supplying equipment and services to the filtration market.
